Emoji 13.1

Emoji version 13.1 was a major update to the emoji standard that was released by the Unicode Consortium in 2020-09-15. It included additional emoji and made some changes to existing ones.


The new emoji in version 13.1 include a wide range of symbols, such as animals, food, activities, and other objects. Some of the notable new emoji in this version include a smiling face with a single tear, a mending heart, and a heart on fire. In addition to new emoji, this version also includes updates to existing emoji, such as changes to their appearance or the addition of new skin tones.


Emoji support may vary depending on the device or platform being used. Some devices or platforms may not support all of the emoji in the current standard, or may have their own proprietary emoji sets.

Emoji version 13.1 is a version of the Unicode Standard that was released on September 29, 2020. This update includes 217 new emojis, as well as new variations of existing emojis with different skin tones and gender identities.

Some of the new emojis in version 13.1 include:

  • A heart on fire
  • A face with spiral eyes
  • A face in the clouds
  • A woman or gender-inclusive person in a tuxedo
  • A person feeding a baby with a bottle
  • A man or gender-inclusive person with a beard and a mask
  • A woman or gender-inclusive person with a beard

These new emojis are gradually being added to devices and platforms that support Unicode 13.1, so you may not see them on all devices or in all apps right away.

Since the release of emoji version 1.0, the Unicode Consortium has released multiple updates to the emoji standard, adding new emoji and making changes to existing ones. The current version of the emoji standard is Unicode 15.0, which was released in 2022-09-13 and includes over 3,644 emoji.
